How to make Fish Makhani

  • Step 1

To prepare this main dish recipe, firstly, take the fish fillets in a bowl and add turmeric, 1 teaspoon red chilli powder along with salt as per your taste. Mix it well and marinate the fish fillets for some time. Now, place a pan over medium flame and add refined oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add the marinated fish fillets in it. Fry the fish fillets until they are golden brown on both sides. Once done, take them off the flame and set these aside.

  • Step 2

Now, place a pan over medium flame and add butter in it. When the butter has melted, add ginger paste, garlic paste and red chillies in it. Saute the ingredients until the mixture turns aromatic. Now, add the tomato puree in it and mix it well. Let it cook for some time and sprinkle cumin powder, garam masala powder, sugar, salt and remaining red chilli powder in it. Mix it and make sure that the spices are incorporated well. Add green chilli sauce in it and mix well.

  • Step 3

Once the gravy starts to thicken, add the yoghurt to it. Stir it well and let the gravy thicken. When the mixture has released butter in the pan, add the fried fillets in this gravy and mix well. Make sure that the fillets are well coated with the gravy. Add water at this point and let it cook. Once the desired consistency is attained, take it off the flame and transfer the dish in a bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it hot with some rice or chapati to enjoy!
